This family and this shoot is so close to my heart. Anyone that knows this family is inspired by them. They are full of faith, positivity, courage and strength in the face of so so much adversity. A few weeks before this session, I learned Jodi (the mom) had ovarian cancer and would shortly be undergoing hard core treatment. She is close to my age, has 6 kids around my kids ages, and it just all hit way too close to home. I wanted, needed to do something for them. Jodi has an amazing team of supportive friends and we came together and planned this family session for them before she started to undergo chemo. Marla Collis donated her time and talent to do Jodi’s and her daughter’s hair and makeup. Ooh La Luxe donated a dress for Jodi to wear. It all came together perfectly so that Jodi could just be pampered on the day of the shoot with her mom and close friends helping get kids ready. It was an amazing experience and one I will cherish forever! I know it was exhausting and so challenging for Jodi, but she was such a trooper and we had so many laughs. Jodi has since finished treatment and is doing amazing. However, they found out shortly after that now her husband, shockingly, has a brain tumor and has begun treatment as well. In the face of all this, the family still smiles and laughs and loves. Inspiring is not even accurate to describe their family. I feel honored to know them and love them.
